Help-Portrait Harrisburg Update

Some important updates:
  • We will be taking photos of people from Bethesda Mission from both Men's and Women's shelters.  Specific detail on locations and time will be given through emails for people signed up for Help-Portrait Harrisburg due to several reasons, primarily for privacy of people involved.
  • One important reminder, if you want to be involved, NO portraits taken during this event can be used for your portfolios, blogs or public display.  This is very personal.  Help-Portrait is about giving for the sake of giving.  I will quote one of the comment from Help-Portrait community discussion: "The movement is about the act of doing something great for someone else in need. This can be achieved by blogging and posting photos/video of the event itself and not the individual person's portrait."  For our event, we will go even further on this.  Event any candid photos with identifiable images of people from Women's and Youth's shelter can NOT be displayed at all.  Currently, we will just leave this as honest system, but if majority think we should all sign an agreement for this, we can do that too.
  • With what said above, there is no such thing as release form.  One of the organizers mentioned on the community site "The only release that should be considered giving is you, the photographer, signing over your copyrights to the subject so they can use the photo however they'd like."  We currently have no plan to have any release form for you to sign over your copyrights, we will just use honor system.  Remember, this is not about taking photos, it is about giving.
Thank you for your willingness to help and sacrifice your time.

Help-Portrait Harrisburg Meeting - Cafe Di Luna 11.18.09 @ 6pm

Well, actually it is BeyondSecond photographers meet up, but since most of the people will be involved in Help-Portrait Harrisburg, we will be discussing about Help-Portrait too.

When: Wednesday, 11.18.09 @6pm
Where: Cafe Di Luna
1004 N 3rd Street
Harriburg, PA 17102

See you there!

Update: We have an organization that have accepted our offer for Help-Portrait. Information will be given on email and/or during our meeting. We will also publish it here once we have more detail in term of time.

Next meeting during BeyondSecond meetup

Help-Portrait Harrisburg will meet during BeyondSecond meetup on Nov 18 @ 6pm.  Tentative location for the meeting is Cafe Di Luna.  It is tentative since Cafe Di Luna fall hours is 6:30am to 6pm, so we may need to go with different location, but I won't be surprised if Cafe Di Luna extends the business hours just to have us meet there again.

Stay tuned!

11.10.09 Meeting @Cafe Di Luna

First, thank you to Cafe Di Luna for letting us meet beyond normal business hours.  We found out that Cafe Di Luna business hour for fall is from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, but Ambreen was kind enough to wait for us and stayed open until 6:30 pm.

Chris, Nate and Hasby met at Cafe Di Luna.  We had informal meeting.  We discuss mainly about the location.  We will not publish the potential location at this point because we don't want people to question why would certain organization decided not to accept the offer.

We will update everyone with the location once we get a definitive answer.

Again, thank you for Cafe Di Luna for their kindness.  If you are around town, please remember Cafe Di Luna.  Great coffee and atmosphere.  Better than you know who.

First Meeting Tonight at Cafe Di Luna

The first meeting for Help-Portrait Harrisburg group will be held at Cafe Di Luna on 1004 N 3rd Street Harrisburg, PA 17101.

We will discussing several items, but the main focus will be possible locations or organizations to reach out to. Depending on the number of volunteers, we may need to offer to more than one organizations, which is a good thing.

We will update the result of the meeting here.

Update: Forgot to add the time. It will be @ 6pm.
